Lidl Hungary has significantly expanded its operational capacity with the inauguration of a new logistics center in Kiskunfélegyháza, following a substantial investment of nearly 60 billion forints, equivalent to approximately €162 million. This new facility stands as the largest warehouse for Lidl in Hungary and is set to supply around 70 of its stores across the region, enhancing its distribution capabilities.

Spanning more than 83,000 square meters, the logistics center has already generated over 400 job opportunities, with an additional 50 positions expected to be filled soon. The center includes 194 loading docks alongside a refrigerated area measuring 24,000 square meters. Emphasizing sustainability, the facility is equipped with energy-efficient systems, including a 9,000-square-meter solar panel setup on the roof and a heating system that repurposes waste heat from refrigeration for underfloor heating.

Surrounding the logistics center is a 10,000-square-meter space dedicated to biodiversity, underscoring Lidl’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices. The center is poised to play a crucial role in Lidl’s supply chain, with plans for approximately 4,500 pallets of goods to be dispatched daily, thereby bolstering its nationwide distribution network.

Operating 220 stores throughout Hungary, Lidl sources nearly 60% of its products from local suppliers, underscoring its investment in the Hungarian market. The addition of this logistics center is a strategic move to support Lidl’s growth and strengthen its operations within the country. This development aligns with Lidl’s ongoing efforts to expand its market presence and improve logistical efficiency.
