LG Electronics has achieved its highest-ever financial performance for the second quarter, thanks to significant demand for its home appliances, vehicle components, and HVAC systems. The company announced a preliminary operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, equivalent to $1.04 billion, marking a remarkable 146.9% increase from the previous year. Revenue also saw a substantial rise of 14.9% to reach 23.83 trillion won, exceeding market expectations.
In the first half of the year, LG Electronics set new records with revenue totalling 47.56 trillion won and an operating profit of 3.25 trillion won. This impressive growth was bolstered by elevated sales in key business sectors, alongside enhanced cost efficiency, an expansion in subscription services, the growth of its webOS platform, and stronger online sales.
The home appliance sector, along with vehicle solutions and HVAC businesses, served as primary growth engines for the company. In particular, the increase in demand for premium home appliances, automotive infotainment systems, and cooling solutions was noteworthy, especially in Europe, which has recently experienced significant heatwaves.
LG Electronics has also pointed to its ongoing investments in future growth areas as a contributing factor to its success. These investments include advancements in AI data center cooling technologies and the development of sophisticated robotics components, positioning the company for continued growth and innovation in the coming years.
